Since 1989, Great Lakes Metal Works & Art Studio has defined itself as a unique metal fabrication and restoration company that offers a full range of artistic services including the fabrication, casting, and restoration of antiques, architectural elements, stair railings, furniture, and sculpture.

Great Lakes found its origins in a small artist's village in Israel in 1975 where Richard Byrne, a metal smith specializing in bronze, and Donna Zarbin-Byrne, a fine artist, first met and forged their artistic partnership. The combination of their unique talents, extraordinary technical skill, and aesthetic sensibility invigorates the studio to this day. Byrne’s and Zarbin-Byrne’s broad range of skills makes them uniquely versatile; equipped to handle the restoration of a delicate family heirloom as well as the fabrication of a site-specific public sculpture. The restoration of metal, wood, and stone has become such a prominent service within Great Lakes that is has grown into its own sister-company, Artisan Restoration International. ARI is a preferred vendor for the Fairmont, Swissôtel, & Raffle Hotels.

Recognized as a leader in fabrication, fine art casting, restoration, and innovative design, Great Lakes is dedicated to each individual project. Over 20 years of business, Great Lakes has developed a vast network of resources to better serve their collaboration with architects, designers, artists, and independent clients. Great Lakes’ customized approach enhances their ability to translate a client’s vision into reality. Projects of all shapes and sizes, from small residential pieces to monumental public installations, are welcome.
